Chicago Parking

Parking in Chicago is expensive.
Street parking is limited and meter-controlled; parking in a parking garage costs up-wards of $15.00 per day, at least twice that at hotels. Be careful not to park in a tow zone - you'll end up paying the cost of retrieving your car from the car pound plus a separate fine. If you're towed, call the police at 311.

Chicago Parking Meters

Chicago Parking Meters, LLC is reminding motorists that on-street metered parking rates will increase in 2010, based on the rate schedule detailed in the parking meter concession agreement.
Rates will change as follows:
  • Inside the Loop (Area bounded by Lake Michigan to the East, Wacker Drive to the North and West, and Congress Parkway to the South), rates will be $4.25 per hour.
  • In the Central Business District outside the Loop (Area bounded by Lake Michigan to the East, North Avenue to the North, Halsted to the West, and Roosevelt Road to the South, exclusive of the Loop Area) rates will be $2.50 per hour.
  • In all other areas of the city, rates will be $1.25 per hour

Chicago Taxis

Taxis are prevalent in most central locales and can be hailed on the street.
Meters start at $2.25, rising by 20 cents for every one-ninth of a mile or 36 seconds of waiting time. The first extra passenger (aged 12-65) is charged $1.00, with additional passengers adding a further 50 cents to the fare. Journeys to or from either airport incur an additional $1.00 charge. There is no fee for baggage. Tipping is optional but expected. Taxis are usually safe and reliable. If you have a compliant, call the Department of Consumer Services at 312.744.4006.

Chicago Wireless Internet Zone

What is WiFi?  WiFi is short for "Wireless Fidelity" which allows moble devices like laptop computers and personal digital assistants (PDA's) to connect to local area networks without wires.

Church Directory

Chicago is in the midst of an urban renaissance - nearly 3 million people now live in the City. As a growing number of Chicagoans move to the downtown area, Chicago's religious community is also growing, reflecting the city's diverse ethnic and religious heritage.

City Hall-County Building

Since 1853, the governments of Chicago and Cook County have shared three different buildings on this site. The monumental, Classical Revival-style exterior of the present structure, which was designed to be a functional and efficient office building, symbolizes the strength, dignity, and vigor of the governmental functions it contains. The County Building was completed in 1908; City Hall was finished in 1911.
