Chicago Midway Airport Ground Transportation

There are a number of ways to get to and from Midway Airport. Located just 10 miles from Downtown Chicago, Midway is easily reachable by the Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) Orange Line in just 20-30 minutes, as well as by regional buses, downtown and suburban shuttles, and Interstate Highways. Most ground transportation access areas are located at the main entrance area of the terminal.  

Chicago Midway International Airport

Known as Midway Airport or Midway (MDW), is  located on the city's Southwest side, eight miles (13 km) from Chicago's Loop.  "MDW" has been in use since it was implemented in 1949 when Chicago Municipal Airport was renamed Chicago Midway Airport.

An established brand for no-frills service in the United Kingdom since 2003, Stagecoach Group, through subsidiary Coach USA introduced the Megabus brand in March 2006.
On 22 March 2006, Megabus started taking bookings for new routes in the United States with a network of services based in Chicago with daily routes to Milwaukee, Indianapolis,  Cincinnati, Cleveland, St. Louis, Ann Arbor, Columbus, Louisville, Toledo, Detroit, Kansas City and Minneapolis.

Metra

The Metra Electric Line is Chicago's oldest continuing commuter train (1856), and shares the railway with the South Shore Line, operated by the Northwest Indiana Commuter Transit District ("NICTD"), which is a separate but equal entity of the RTA. The South Shore Line is an interurban railroad that operates between Chicago and South Bend, Indiana. Like the Metra Electric Line, it arrives and departs from Millennium Station.

O'Hare Ground Transportation

Located just 17 miles northwest of Downtown Chicago, O'Hare International Airport is accessible via local mass transit lines, regional trains and buses, downtown and suburban shuttles and interstate highways. Most ground transportation access areas are located at the main entrance for each terminal.

O'Hare International Airport

Known as O'Hare Airport or O'Hare (ORD), is located in the Northwestern-most corner of the city and 17 miles (27 km) Northwest of the Loop. It is the largest hub of United Airlines (whose headquarters is in downtown Chicago) and the second-largest hub of American Airlines (after Dallas/Fort Worth). It is operated by the City of Chicago Department of Aviation.

Why is O'Hare's Airport Code "ORD"?
It does seem odd that it's ORD -- after all, there's not even a "D" in O'Hare -- until you find out that O'Hare's original name until 1949 was Orchard Field Airport.
