Schubas Tavern

Schubas Tavern

This tavern is housed in one of the former Schlitz bars, but the Schlitz is gone. Instead, you will find a good collection of beer and a wonderfully eclectic variety of live music on a stage in an adjoining room. You can drink at the bar for no extra charge, but to hear the music, you have to pay a cover fee.
Both parts of the tavern tend to host a mix of locals from the Lakeview neighborhood and others from throughout the city who have come to check out the nightly jazz, rock or folk act. If you get hungry, you can sneak away to the adjoining Harmony Grill to sample their eclectic menu.

General Info

Schubas is a true Chicago triple play:  excellent music room, lively bar and adjacent restaurant.  The music room offers close proximity to the performers who range from local bands to national bands who got their start at Schubas.  You can expect to hear rock, folk, country and maybe a little funk.  The room has an excellent sound and with it's raised stage it accomodates about 150 people.
Outside of the music room is a traditional tavern featuring a good assortment of beers in the bottle and on tap.  The crowd is lively and definitely there to have a good time.  And if the munchies attack, you can go right into the adjacent Harmony Grill and enjoy appetizers, pizza or hearty sandwiches.
For a fun night out you can find drinks, food and music in quality and abundance all at Schubas.
