Au Cheval

We describe this eatery as a classic diner with an gastronomic touch. You won't find a jukebox inside, but you will be able to order from a full bar and snack on hefty sandwiches (including a reinvented bologna sandwich made with fried mortadella on white bread) and $6 burgers along with classic dishes such as Dover sole prepared with brown butter, capers and parsley. The kitchen is closed from 3:00pm - 5:00 pm daily, so get there early for lunch or weekend brunch.

The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant

Located on the corner of 14th Street and Michigan Avenue, the newly restored 1905 Firehouse is built on the Chicago traditions of a welcoming atmosphere. This in an attractive turn-of-the-century building that formerly housed a Chicago Fire Department and was completely remodeled in 1999. Owner, Matthew O'Malley retained its charm with original tin ceilings, fire-glazed walls and brass poles.

Storefront Company

The restaurant is nestled among the boutique shopping and retail hot spots that dot the North Avenue and Damen Avenue corridor in Wicker Park, which provided the inspiration for the restaurant’s name. Storefront Company offers a comfortable yet artistically inspired dining space in 2,500 square feet. “we wanted the design to embody the soul of Wicker Park,” says Harris, who personally designed the space with the team. “I love this neighborhood because it was founded by artists and still draws the open-minded and diverse" adds Gassel.


Toni Patisserie & Cafe

Toni Marie Cox is an artist, a pastry chef, and a proprietress. Toni completed her BA in fine arts from the University of Illinois, Chicago. Afterwards, Toni applied her talents to the culinary world. She notably honed her artistry as Executive Pastry Chef at Chicago’s elegant Mayfair Regent Hotel and Le Ciel Bleu. Disney sought out her talents to open The Disneyland Hotel, Paris.

In 1994, after three years in France, Toni returned and began to supply the Hinsdale area with her fabulous treats. Her experience, style, and artistry are evident in the jewel-like pastries and cakes created, as well as the superb savory offerings.
